Scott Lanigan

South Community Pastor

Scott Lanigan, South Campus Pastor

Welcome to the page talking about me.  "Why did I end up here?" you might be thinking.  Don't fear, after seeing my mug shot I clicked away as soon as I could too.  But, I had to come back because I needed to have something fill this space.  So if you end up continuing to read, may God bless you and make you a blessing.

I started out at WPC in September 2006.  Previous to that I was working at a Lumber Company as the Director of Human Resources.  And previous to that I was a youth pastor for 10 years.  I played trumpet for 10 years and in doing so, during grade 9, won a National Jazz Band Competition at Expo '86.  Bet you didn't know that and pretty sure you are wondering the relevance.  I am married to the bestest woman in the Universe, we have 3 great kids - a boy and 2 girls.  They would fall under these categories:  A Hockey/Lego Maniac, Diva #1, and Diva #2.  Needless to say, my life is not my own.  Here comes the segway...

I am a pastor at WPC but that is what I do, not who I am.  My name is Scott Lanigan and I am a follower of Christ.  The reason I am a pastor is because I believe the occupation provides an incredible opportunity to relevantly communicate the message of Jesus.  In reality, my life is not my own, nor is yours.  It is Jesus living in and through me, us.  My life is His.

Our desire at WPC, specifically the South Community, is to provide an opportunity for people to live this life together, with it's imperfections and wonders, striving to allow Jesus to work in and through us.

Well you made it.  And for a reward, I have in my possession, a tape, yes, a tape, of me and three buddies, Scott, Paul, Al and Tom, affectionately called SPAT, from Expo '86, performing the hit "Rock Around the Clock" that you are free to listen to.  I figure you have earned it reading through this bio.
